In Naperville, Harris is proud to be a sponsor, along with the Library Anderson, for a special presentation of 14 September with acclaimed author Sean Covey.
KidsMatter The event will benefit a nonprofit organization whose mission is to empower youth and families to effectively manage the stress of everyday life through programming, education and collaboration. Covey will talk about his latest book, "The 7 Habits of happy children, along with his bestselling book," The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens. "
When companies make philanthropy a real part of its business plan, everyone benefits.
Covey's message is the greatness of inspiration in youth, which is important in creating strong communities. IdaLynn Wenhold, KidsMatter executive director, said, "Covey's seven habits, you can enable children and adolescents feel secure in knowing they have the power to decide for themselves who will go and what to do. "
She said KidsMatter supports the same principles as for young Covey promotes in his books, such as creating friendships, resist peer pressure, achieve goals and even getting along with their parents. This is a win-win for everyone.
The partnership with Harris and Anderson Naperville School District 203, where Covey will speak with first graders and eighth district.
District 203 director of communications, Melea Smith, is a former chairman of the board of directors KidsMatter. She said Covey will present students with valuable and age appropriate instruments to help them become happier and more successful.
"KidsMatter long we define success as achieving one of personal best (the best I can), instead of being the best, "Smith said." District 203 is also committed to supporting the needs of each child. "
KidsMatter emphasizes education, prevention and life choices healthy. Its programming is based on the powerful research by Search Institute, which reports that more development assets young people have in their lives, less likely they are to engage in risky behaviors and more likely to show behaviors are thriving.
